Blogging is an amazing way to connect with people. I love writing. I love sharing my wins and my struggles. My good days and bad days. I love connecting with my tribe, helping them laugh, making them cry, helping them feel less alone and like there are others out there feeling the same way as them.
I blog about what it’s like to live with Asperger’s, being a mum, being an entrepreneur, how to create natural remedies to support mood, immune system, gut health, replace toxic household and personal care products. I blog about the lies the system feeds us and how to create a better way. I blog about breastfeeding, birth, food, mindfulness, emotions, parenting, love, intimacy and more.
I used to do this with no monetary remuneration. I would put hours and hours into it, into educating and empowering people. Using social media to spread the message about the Heart Foundation promoting margarine and processed foods as heart healthy and how we could rally together to change it (and we did).
All this was amazing. But it didn’t put food on the table and wow, were we stressed, broke and struggling.
I didn’t want to go back to a “real” job. Be away from my babies. Do something for someone else that gave me no purpose and built THEIR dream. I wanted to build MY dream and help others build THEIR dreams.
I wanted to continue to do what I love, share with my audience and make money and importantly bring people hope, connection and a sense of purpose.
So I started to try different things, banner ads (made a few cents here and there), an e-course (three people signed up), events (barely covered costs, often made a loss).
People would often send me info about a product and encourage me to promote it on my blog, it all felt so selly and I didn’t want my blog to just become a reel of advertising. Plus none of the products aligned! The ingredients had little integrity, it just didn’t feel right.
Then essential oils came into my life. From one of my readers! She sent me some samples and I had very powerful personal experiences with them for myself and my kids. My eldest had a tummy bug and it helped in minutes, my youngest had skin troubles and within 48 hours his skin was clear and smooth instead of red raw, I had skin problems, anxious feelings, gut health challenges and none of us were sleeping. The oils helped us with all of these.
I was sensitive to chemicals, perfumes, skin products, cleaning products. We replaced them all with essential oils and natural products.
I instinctively knew my audience could benefit from these products. There were many mums following my page, young professionals, bloggers, people into natural health always looking for a better way.
So I just naturally started to share my experiences! Shared recipes and tips, created a Facebook group to support our growing community of oily addicts, started training and teaching people how THEY could share with THEIR tribes and communities and start to supplement, replace or even multiply their income doing something they loved.
It was honestly almost too good to be true. All I was doing was what I had been doing. Sharing what I was passionate about, what I knew would help people with their every day challenges.
Only now I was being financially compensated for my work… and not only that but I could help others make a genuine income!!! Wow!!
I knew so many mums struggling to make ends meet, feeling guilt for staying at home with their babies and not earning an income or feeling guilt for going back to work and being away from their babies. I had something that could help them earn AND be with their families!!!
